The
single largest surface gold mine in the state, the Cresson Mine
currently is extracting 225,000 ounces of gold annually. Using surface
techniques to remove the gold ore, and modernizing leaching methods
developed in the district in the late 1890's, Cripple Creek and
Victor Gold Mining Company has brought new life to the Cresson Mine.
These tours peruse through the largest concentration of ghost towns
